Band Academy

Band Academy

How It Works

We help teens find their voice, grow as a group, and live the full band experience from first rehearsal to final encore.
At Band Academy, we offer a complete musical journey designed to help teens develop as musicians, performers, and creative collaborators. Here’s what every band experience includes:

Weekly Rehearsals

Each band meets weekly for a focused 2-hour rehearsal guided by a professional musician. Students learn to rehearse effectively, collaborate musically, and create chemistry as a group.

Together, they work on cover songs and original material while developing timing, listening, and arrangement skills. It’s a real band experience designed to boost musical growth, responsibility, and confidence — all in a fun, supportive, and inspiring environment.

Monthly Masterclass

Once a month, students join a group masterclass led by a guest artist or industry expert. These sessions explore songwriting, performance skills, music technology, improvisation, and more.

They offer teens insight into real-world music paths and creative techniques beyond standard lessons. Each masterclass is interactive, fun, and inspiring — helping students stay motivated, connect with peers, and expand their musical horizons in exciting, hands-on ways.

Online Harmony Lessons

All students get access to recorded online harmony lessons via our private platform. These lessons cover key music theory concepts in a simple, engaging format — perfect for teens at any level.

Students can watch anytime, from any device, to deepen their understanding of harmony and composition. It’s a flexible, self-paced learning tool that supports their progress in band rehearsals and future musical creativity.

Music Outings & Cultural Visits

Music is everywhere — not just in rehearsal rooms. That’s why we organise regular outings to concerts, festivals, and music-related museums or exhibitions.

These group experiences help students gain artistic inspiration, discover new genres, and bond with their bandmates outside class. Each trip is educational and fun, adding cultural depth to their musical journey and reminding them why music matters — and how it connects us.

Live Performances

Bands perform live at curated events throughout the year, from showcases to open mic nights. These performances give students a chance to apply what they’ve learned, feel the thrill of the stage, and share their development with family and friends.

We help them prepare technically and mentally, so they feel confident and proud. Every show is a milestone — a celebration of progress and passion.

Competition Preparation

For motivated bands ready for a challenge, we offer full preparation for local and national music competitions. With guided coaching, stage rehearsals, and performance feedback, students learn how to approach competitions with confidence and creativity.

It’s not about winning — it’s about growth, teamwork, and rising to the occasion. Competitions push students to refine their sound and showcase their talent in high-energy, real-world settings.

WHO AM I?

I’m John Parker, a musician and teacher from England, and I’ve been living in Paris for over a decade. Music has been part of my life since I was a child—I started violin at 7, sang in choirs, played in orchestras, and later taught myself guitar and began writing songs.
After ten very happy years as a primary school teacher, I made the decision in 2020 to devote myself fully to music. Since then, I’ve been teaching violin, guitar, piano, and music theory to students of all ages, performing in orchestras and jazz groups, and recording my own music.
I started Band Academy because I believe in the power of music—not just as a form of expression, but as a way to learn how to listen, collaborate, reflect, and grow. I want to create a space where teenagers can discover their voice, support one another, and experience the joy of making music together.

The studio

Students enrolling in band academy will find us conveniently located in Sèvres, just outside Paris. Our spacious rehearsal room is fully equipped with everything needed for dynamic and effective music lessons — including high-quality instruments, microphones, amplifiers, and all essential gear. It’s the perfect environment for students to learn, play, and grow as a band.

Holiday Music Workshops

During one of the two weeks of each school holiday, Band Academy hosts immersive music workshops designed to spark creativity, deepen skills, and strengthen collaboration.
Each holiday workshop is built around a specific musical theme or challenge — from arranging a classic hit in a new style, to composing original material, or even recording a band’s own interpretation of a soundtrack.

Students work in groups to collaborate toward a clear creative goal, such as:
– Recording original arrangements in the studio
– Creating a themed mini concert
– Writing and performing a concept song
– Producing a band demo from scratch

These workshops are intensive, hands-on, and fun — a chance to go deeper than weekly rehearsals and experience the joy (and challenge!) of building a musical project together from start to finish.
Whether your teen wants to experiment, create, or take the lead, our holiday workshops are the perfect space to grow — musically, socially, and artistically.
